To qualify for a tax refund, you will need to meet the following requirements:
- You were the seller, relative, and/or involved in the transaction of the home.
- The home was sold in the State of Michigan and occupied as a principal residence during the year the property was sold.
- The home was sold within the last 4 years.
- The property’s State Equalized Value (SEV) at the time the property was sold was equal to or lesser than the SEV on the date the property was purchased.*
*If you received a letter from Transfer Tax Solutions, this has already been determined for you.
Once we determine that you qualify, we will recover the supporting documentation to file a petition with the State of Michigan. When the request is approved, it takes approximately six weeks to receive payment.
